A number of reporters and political correspondents were tonight refused access to a briefing held by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly.
The Minister was holding a briefing on logistics surrounding the vaccine roll-out and had requested to meet health correspondents to update them on the State’s plans.
However, a number of news outlets – including the Irish Mirror – were not invited to the briefing.
A number of reporters were selected to attend the briefing along with health correspondents.
Political correspondents who have been covering the roll-out of the vaccine, attending the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) and HSE weekly briefings, were told they could not attend.

A spokesman for Minister Donnelly refused some newspapers and broadcasters access on the basis that the outlets didn’t have a health correspondent.
However, a number of defiant reporters were eventually given access to the briefing at the Department of Health after an intervention from one senior broadcast reporter – who said he would not attend unless other journalists were given access.
The Minister’s advisor was contacted for comment.
