Health Minister Stephen Donnelly feels 'privileged' after receiving first Covid-19 vaccine

Stephen Donnelly has said he feels "privileged" after receiving his first Covid-19 vaccine.

The Minister for Health got his first jab at a centre in his native Wicklow on Saturday morning.

And the 45-year-old thanked staff for the "brilliant experience".

He wrote on Twitter: "I’ve just had my first #COVID19Vaccine at the centre in Greystones.

"Thanks so much to everyone involved, I feel privileged.

"Special thanks to nurse Fiona who made it such a brilliant experience."

Minister Donnelly joined hundreds of others receiving their doses at the Shoreline Centre in Greystones.

He added: "The nurse said I was very brave, no lollipops though.

"I just want to say thank you to everyone involved, we've got clinicians from all over the place, HSE staff, a wonderful volunteering team, the Irish Red Cross, it's a real community effort, and it's fantastic to see.

"They are looking for more volunteers, if you want to get involved contact Volunteer Wicklow and they'll sign you up and you can help out on a few shifts.

"But listen, I hope everyone has a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend. Mind each other, keep each other safe, have a great weekend."
