Health food restaurant launches donation appeal for blankets to give to Glasgow's homeless

A Glasgow eatery is going an extra mile to provide comfort for homeless people in Glasgow this Christmas.

Soul Food Kitchen is asking customers to donate a clean old or new blanket to be given out to those in need over the festive period.

And in return? Not that you'll be looking for anything, but the health food restaurant will reward you with a free cup of coffee for your trouble.

They say: "One of our goals for the New Year is to give back as much as possible so if you bring a clean old or new blanket into Soul Food Kitchen we will reward you with a free coffee.

"Then one day a week we will be hitting the streets of Glasgow to give those blankets and a hot coffee to those who need them most, those who don't have a home this year and are freezing on the streets of Glasgow.

"We know a blanket won't solve the world problem but everyone has an old blanket at home so it is one little way we can all help someone be a little less cold, feel a little less forgotten and highlight the housing problem in Glasgow."
