Health care tech firm ZirMed plans 200 jobs in Chicago

April 03--Health care tech firm ZirMed announced the opening of its first Chicago office Friday and said it plans to add 200 jobs in the city over the next year or so.

The company will be looking to hire data science analysts, project managers and developers in what it calls its Healthcare Analytics Center of Excellence at 111 N. Canal St. in the West Loop.

ZirMed clients include Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Rush University Medical Center and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. The company says more than 8,000 health care organizations use its cloud-based revenue management and population health products.

The revenue cycle management market is considered by some analysts ripe for growth.

Financial services firm Cowen and Co. said in a recent report just 7 percent of hospitals outsource all of their back office operations. The firm expects that changes to reimbursements under new health law requiring more collaboration among health care institutions will drive hospital systems to seek outside help to manage revenue.

"ZirMed's decision to expand its Chicago presence and create 200 more jobs here serves as a great vote of confidence in the talent we have today," Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement, "but also the 21st century workforce we are building for the future."
