A headteacher has apologised for using pictures of students on a notice board comparing their progress.
Teachers at Abbey College in Ramsey attached head and shoulder snaps of more than 110 children to the huge board.
One axis of the graph shows progress – rated from -3 to 3 – while the other ranks efforts on a scale from 1 to 4.
One anonymous student at school said: “The board was put up with opposition from some of the teachers and students.
“It is spread out on two boards meaning that people in the ‘low-low’ quadrants are singled out for all to see.”
“It is wrong and damaging to the mental health of some students,” they added.
The chart appeared on a notice board at the college in Ramsey, Cambs, last week.
Following a complaint from parents it was removed.
The school claims it was put up in a staff-only area but students dispute this.
One said: “The board was right outside the girls’ toilets so it was clearly visible for everyone to see.
“They also showed us the board in assembly.”
Headteacher Andy Christoforou said: “We apologise for the concern this board has caused.
“While all schools will have similar charts, we accept that this notice should not have been as openly visible.”
