Heading to the North Coast Music Festival? What you need to know

Sept. 03--The North Coast Music Festival returns to Union Park on the West Side this weekend for its sixth year, featuring The Chemical Brothers, Widespread Panic and D'Angelo and The Vanguard as headliners.

Gates open at 3 p.m. Friday and at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph St. Performances are scheduled to wrap up each night at 10 p.m. The full lineup is here.

From tickets to transportation, the Tribune breaks down the logistics of the electronic music festival.

Tickets: Tickets were available for each day of the festival, as of Thursday afternoon. General admission tickets are $79.67 for entry into the festival Friday and Sunday. Tickets to Saturday's slate of shows cost $98.78. VIP tickets, which start at $110, allow access to special lounges and air-conditioned bathrooms.

Transportation: Parking in the area is limited. Union Park is near the Chicago Transit Authority Ashland stop on the Green and Pink lines. The No. 9-Ashland and No. 20-Madison buses also stop by the park.

Allowed items: Digital phones, disposable cameras, fanny packs, purses, school backpacks, lawn chairs, blankets, sunglasses, lighters, sealed packs of cigarettes, sunblock, lip gloss, empty clear plastic containers or clear CamelBaks, staffs/flagpoles, umbrellas and binoculars are allowed.

Lockers can be rented for $20 each day or $50 for the weekend.

Prohibited items: Glow sticks, large lounge chairs, tents, knives or anything that can be deemed a weapon, video or audio recording devices, GoPros, e-cigarettes or vapor pens, open cigarette packs, professional cameras, pets, food, glass containers, aerosol cans, drugs or drug paraphernalia, unauthorized solicitations, handbills, stuffed animals, samples and giveways are not allowed.

After-parties: Various after-parties, including at Concord Music Hall in Logan Square and the Cobra Lounge in West Town, will be held this weekend.
