'Head says' - Fans wade in on debate over where Nottingham Forest will finish season

Nottingham Forest are back in action this weekend as they look to make it three wins on the spin, when they travel to face Barnsley.

Chris Hughton’s side are currently 20th in the standings, with the Reds boss eager to start challenging at the opposite end of the table as they get back on the pitch following the international break.

And Forest fans have given their verdict on where they think the club will finish come May.

Few need any reminders of what happened last term, and the agonising final day collapse against Stoke City.

Players with Championship experience were recruited in the summer, in a bid to close the gap on the top six.

And a miserable start to the campaign saw Sabri Lamouchi pay the price after four straight league defeats.

Under Hughton, the Reds have lost just once and there have been signs of improvement - albeit with an acknowledgement there is room for much more.

We asked supporters on our Nottingham Forest News Facebook page where they think the club will be come the end of the season.

Here’s a selection of their comments.

Peter Newman: I believe in the team and the manager, although we are still early in the season a run of 5 or 6 positive games could change everything - so for me a playoff place is possible and automatic is not impossible. Let's stay behind the team - they can do it.

Neil Langton: There’s a long way to go and we’ve started really poorly!!! Hopefully can find some form and put a consistent run together? Prediction = top 6.

Matt Halsall: I think we will reach the playoffs but then lose out by goal difference.

Alan Nash: We will finish where we deserve to finish, no higher, no lower.

Philip Tomlinson: Top 10. Outside punt at the play-offs but unlikely I’m afraid. Rebuilding season in all likelihood.

Stephen McCubbin: Impossible to say at this stage but confident of the play-offs at the very least.

Aston Stanley: Nothing will happen this season. Just get it over with and build for a push next year.

Ty Yaqub: I be happy anything above mid-table with the start we have had, cannot see getting to play-offs.

Warren Matthew: There is always a team that start poor and finish well. I think that's us.

Chris Stevenson: I hope play-offs, but 8th I think.

Roni Ayoub: Top 10 but not good enough for play-offs.

Bill Turner: As much as I wish to see it, I just don't see us hitting the top six sadly.

Matt Filer: Head says 11th heart says 4th.

Christopher Nicholson: 7th or 8th.

Karl Booth: Top 6 guys, have faith.

The next few weeks could offer a real marker for Hughton’s men and prove a crucial part of their top six bid.

After taking on the Tykes, they then come up against five of the current top six sides, in Bournemouth, Swansea City, Watford, Reading and Norwich City.
