Head-on car crash prompts police to shut down road near Scots high school

A head-on car crash has prompted police to shut down a road outside a Scots high school.

Emergency services raced to Woodside Road, next to Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes, after being made aware of the two-car smash earlier this afternoon.

A photograph taken at the scene shows both vehicles badly damaged by the impact of the collision, with debris strewn across the road.

Police say the accident happened at 1.55pm. It is currently unknown whether there are any injuries.

Emergency services remain at the scene as of 3pm, with the road blocked off.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: " Officers were called to reports of a two vehicle crash on Woodside Road, Glenrothes around 1.55pm on Thursday 16 Sept.

"Emergency services are still at the scene."
