People are being encouraged to ‘swap, don’t shop’ for clothes this Christmas.
Paisley’s sustainable fashion hub ReMode is hosting an Open Mic and Swish event on Wednesday, December 15.
Their young events entrepreneur group - The ReMotivators – has organised the event which will take place in Paisley music venue, The Bungalow.
The evening will include a night of musical entertainment from the open mic and jam session, and the opportunity to update your wardrobe by swapping up to six items of yours in good condition for tokens that you can then ‘spend’ on ReMode’s selection of donated garments.
Swapping, rather than buying new clothes is less impactful on the environment, so you can reduce your carbon footprint this Christmas.
Freya, one of the ReMotivators said: “The purpose of Open Mic & Swish is to create a skill share and network for artists and musicians.
“It’s to show people they don’t need to spend loads of money to get new clothes, and that they can get new clothes in a friendly environment.
“Nowhere else does an eco-friendly open mic night.”

Another ReMotivator, Jack said: “The evening will help make people more aware of what we do here at Remode, and will also be a really fun occasion.”
Open Mic & Swish is the second event organised by the group of 13-25 year olds involved with ReMode. The ReMotivators formed as a result of a series of workshops with the aim of helping young people curate and put on events with themes of sustainability and community.
Tickets for the Open Mic and Swish are £1 on the door. Clothes can be dropped off and exchanged for tokens from 5pm onwards. Doors open at 6pm.
Facemasks must be worn at all times, except when seated at a table. ReMode politely requests that all customers take a lateral flow test before attending.
