"He will unretire" Bob Arum confirms Tyson Fury return with next fight

Tyson Fury's promoter Bob Arum has thrown doubt over Tyson Fury's retirement by claiming that the WBC and The Ring world champion would 'unretire' when his next fight arises. The 'Gypsy King' appeared to confirm that he would leave the world of boxing following his Wembley win over Dillian Whyte six weeks ago but Arum's comments appear to have thrown doubt over that claim.

Bob Arum is his US promoter and founder & CEO of Top Rank Boxing, having helped negotiate Fury's fights since his 2018 comeback to the sport and is well placed to comment on the 33-year-old's future. Fury is yet to surrender his belts following his retirement, an indication that he could well be waiting for the result of a rematch between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk before he makes his decision.

Speaking about Fury's future to Fight Hype, Arum said: "Tyson Fury is retired and he will be retired until we come to him with the next big event and then he will unretire." He added. "Well, I think Fury is going to wait to see how the [Anthony] Joshua fight comes out with [Oleksandr] Usyk, and then he'll make a determination whether he wants to continue.

"Other than fighting the winner of Joshua-Usyk, there's really nothing that's really of interest to Tyson Fury, so we will have to see." The venue of the rematch between Joshua and Usyk has now been confirmed, with the fight to take place in Saudi Arabia in August.

After the win in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley in April, Fury told the press: "I've been in this game for 20 years, I'm 34 in a few months. This is definitely the end of the Gypsy King and I went out with a bang. Tonight was amazing but this is the end.".
