"He was loved by everyone": Heartbroken mum pays tribute to son who became a dad weeks before death

A heartbroken mum has recalled the final days before her son died in a horror crash yards away from her front door.

New dad Connor McGlade died on August 12 after he was involved in a fatal crash on his white KTM Duke Motorbike on Stanley Grove, off Mount Road on the border of Longsight and Gorton.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were scrambled to the scene and he was taken to hospital fighting for his life.

But in a heartbreaking update days later, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that he had died, saying his family were "understandably devestated".

His mum Natalie McGlade has now spoken about precious memories of Connor, who she described as an "easy-going, laid-back and happy boy".

She said he had become a dad to baby Noah weeks before his death and was "scared, but so happy to be a dad".

She continued: "He was getting up in the nights to do the feeds, you don't really hear much of that these days. He was a really good dad, he adored the baby.

"He was an easy-going, laid-back happy boy. I know that's my boy but that's who he was, everybody who knows him would say that.

"That night he was going around the block, our avenue is on a C curve. He was just going around the block but he didn't get past the shops and unfortunately that is what happened to Connor and now that's our family situation. You just don't know what is round the corner."

Ms McGlade said 21-year-old Connor, who is her eldest child, had recently made contact with his youngest siblings who were put into care as children.

He met up with his brother for the first time this year, but the heartbroken mum said: "He has now literally lost him, again."

She said the big family are all close and Connor had cousins like siblings and a granny called Janet who adored him and "gave him absolutley everything."

His best friend, called Luke, grew up on the same street in Selford Avenue. His family took Connor on his first holiday abroad in Spain.

His mum now has to tell the heartbreaking news to his baby sister, who is too young to understand.

She said: "He was absolutely loved by every one. Not one person who knows him can say something bad about him."

A black Seat Leon was also involved in the crash and police officers say the drivers helped with the investigation but that they did not make any arrests.

Pollice Sergeant Neil Pennington, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, urged witnesses to get in touch in bids to piece together what happened that afternoon.
