'He was always professional' - Carlo Ancelotti heaps praise on Nottingham Forest 'target'

Guillaume Hoarau is the latest name to be linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, and it has emerged that the French striker received praise from one of the biggest names in club management.

Hoarau played under Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti during his five-year stay with French giants Paris St Germain, but was allowed to leave for Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League after struggling to force his way into the team at the Parc des Princes.

During his stay in Paris, the frontman amassed more than 100 appearances before departing in 2013 for China, though on his departure, Ancelotti, the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss now in charge at Napoli, praised his attitude.

“I want to thank Guillaume. Although he did not play much and sometimes he was not happy, he was always professional and serious, with a very good attitude.”

Now 35, Hoarau was the leading marksman in the Swiss top-flight last term, bagging 27 goals in just 33 outings in the domestic league and Champions League for Bern outfit Young Boys.

Since moving to the Swiss capital in 2014 from Bordeaux, the ex-France international has scored 166 times in 176 games, with 35 assists to his name.

Hoarau has missed a chunk of this season through injury, only playing 11 times for the leader leaders, scoring once and played in the 3-0 defeat to Basel on Sunday.
