He walked down a darkened street in December... and has never been seen since: The missing Bolton Wanderers fan

In a black and white CCTV clip a man can be seen walking down a street after nightfall.

It was 11pm on December 22, 2020. The location is Slater Street in Latchford, Warrington, and it was the last ever sighting of James Miller.

Today on the sixth-month anniversary of his disappearance police have issued a new appeal to find the 38-year-old.

James, who has a daughter, had been struggling with his mental health during the lockdown.

But he had continued to work as a mechanic.

He left home without cash or a phone.

Despite huge efforts by police and his family who have distributed posters throughout Warrington, James, a Bolton Wanderers fan, and formerly a regular at Warrington Wolves rugby league games has not been traced.

He walked out of his home on Slater Street, where he was living with his mother, and has not been heard of since.

At the time he went missing James was wearing a white t-shirt and grey jogging bottoms. He is described as 5'8" tall with bright blue eyes, of a medium build and with a distinctive scar on the side of his head.

Officers investigating his disappearance have continued to provide support to James’s family and have looked into numerous sightings reported to police.

Detective Inspector Helen Clegg, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “Despite the number of enquiries we have received since he went missing James’s whereabouts is still not established.

“Officers are continuing to act on any reports which could lead to James being found and he still remains a missing person.

“We have maintained regular contact with his family and supported them in their quest to find their much loved dad, brother and son. The past six months have been a long and difficult time for them and my thoughts continue to be with them as each day passes.

“We are still appealing for anyone who has any new information relevant to James’s disappearance and not yet reported it to police to please do so.

“We also want to take this opportunity to thank members of the public who have continued to do all they can to raise awareness of James’s disappearance and provide support and hope to his family.”

The day after his 38th birthday in January his s sister Emma made an emotional appeal for help.

Emma told Cheshire Live: "The whole of Warrington is helping in the search for James but unfortunately no solid leads on anything apart from the CCTV showing him on Slater Street turning into Florence Street in Latchford just before 11pm on December 22.

"The search and rescue underwater team have been on the River Mersey using sonar and found nothing to date."

"Today is James's 38th birthday which is really difficult as it should be a happy day but instead we are missing him so much.

"We all love James and want him to know that we just want to know he is safe and well.

"He is the best big brother ever and I pray he knows how much we all love him."

Emma said she can't thank the public enough for their help and the family "won't give up" until James is safe.

She added: "Please check hidden areas you know about if anyone has been camping out there, check sheds, garages, outhouses and lofts.

"We can't thank the public enough for all the help, every share of his poster, every like or view gets his face out there."
