'He turned to me' - Nottingham Forest hero recalls revealing meeting with Aitor Karanka

Nottingham Forest hero Andy Reid remembers a job interview with ex-Reds boss Aitor Karanka that showed him the Spaniard's single-minded winning mentality.

Karanka was in charge at the City Ground for a year, leaving the club in January 2019.

And, speaking to the42, Forest Under-23s coach Reid has recalled a meeting with Karanka in which he told him that winning "was also important" for a young player’s development.

“He turned to me and said: ‘winning is all that matters’,” Reid said.

“And that is where he was coming from as someone in charge of the first team.

“We have to get players ready for those demands but there are other factors that are also important when players are younger.”
