'He turned the game' - Bristol City player ratings following victory over Forest Green Rovers

Bristol City came back to beat Forest Green Rovers 4-3 at the New Lawn last night in their penultimate pre-season friendly of the summer.

Bristol Live's Robins reporter Gregor MacGregor took a closer look at the individual performances on the night.

Daniel Bentley - 6

Could he have done more for the second goal as he was beaten from outside the box? Could do nothing for the first but was rounded early on too.

Jack Hunt - 6

Several top challenges as he advanced down the right flank.

Adam Webster of Bristol City during the pre-season friendly against Forest Green Rovers - (Rogan/JMP)

Adam Webster - 7

Didn't look comfortable and was upended by McGoalsky as he sauntered around with the ball. But made up for it with the winner - although did Saikou Janneh nick it? We think yes.

Tomas Kalas - 5

Strange night at the office for Kalas who was not as dominant as usual. Saving that for Leeds United hopefully.

Tommy Rowe - 6

Kept swapping position with O'Dowda to cause the opposition headaches. Decent shift and terrific sliding challenge to deny Shaun McCoulsky grabbing an early second goal on 10 minutes.

Josh Brownhill of Bristol City during the pre-season friendly against Forest Green Rovers (Rogan/JMP)

Josh Brownhill - 7

Miscontrolled when through but his shot brought City into the match. Symptomatic of City's performance as he showed early rust.

Callum O'Dowda - 6

His athleticism meant that he remained a threat throughout, but few moments of real quality.

Liam Walsh - 6

Should have picked up a booking for a tug on Joseph Mills. Moved the ball well and several good shots but not as influential as he might have been.

Andi Weimann - 7

Non-stop energy throughout and he looked the most likely to create.

Sammie Szmodics of Bristol City scores a goal to make it 3-3 during the pre-season friendly against Forest Green Rovers (Rogan/JMP)

Sammie Szmodics - 7

Like Brownhill, the new recruit started slowly but grew as the game went on. Several exciting crosses and a terrific finish marked another good outing.

Niclas Eliasson - 6

The Swedish winger's crossing always gave the Robins a creative outlet and it was good to see the 23-year-old burst past his marker several times.

Saikou Janneh of Bristol City during the pre-season friendly against Forest Green Rovers (Rogan/JMP)

Substitute:

Saikou Janneh - 8

Turned the game with his infectious enthusiasm and focus. May even have grabbed the winner too. Lee Johnson saluted him afterwards too.
