'He taught Wan-Bissaka!' Palace fans go crazy after what young defender did in pre-season clash

Crystal Palace fans may have seen Aaron Wan-Bissaka leave the club to join Manchester United this summer, but some Eagles supporters are getting excited about another young defender.

Wan-Bissaka left for Manchester United in a £50million deal last month, having come through the ranks at Palace and impressing in his 46 appearances for the Eagles, since making his professional debut against Tottenham in February 2018.

But while the Croydon-born full-back has now departed south London to join the Red Devils, some Palace fans have noted a similarity between him and another up-and-coming full-back at the club.

Tyrick Mitchell is one of seven young players to have travelled with the Palace squad for the pre-season tour of Switzerland, and he impressed last night (Monday) as the Eagles faced FC Luzern in the Uhrencup.

After coming on as a substitute, he made a superb sliding tackle to prevent a shooting opportunity for the Swiss side with the score at 1-1, with the action drawing comparisons with Wan-Bissaka from some Eagles supporters.

Here's what some Palace fans have been saying on social networking website Twitter, after the club posted a video of the defender's tackle.

The 19-year-old full-back, who first signed for Palace from Brentford in the 2015/16 season, has been a regular at U18 and U23 level in recent seasons.

He earned praise from Palace boss Roy Hodgson after impressing in a friendly against Dulwich Hamlet last season, while he put pen to paper o na new deal with the Eagles in January.

At the time, the teenager said: "I'm excited and just want to get started and kick on from there. I've just tried to focus more, to see the end game.

"I'm not quite close [to being a first team player] but every day I'm closer than I was yesterday. I'm training with the first-team often, every week.

"My family are excited and proud of me, they were a big influence in my footballing career."
