Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has become one of the most outspoken critics of Donald Trump and his administration in recent times. Since Trump assumed office as President of the United States this year, Pritzker has spoken out against his immigration policies, mishandling of government programs, including SNAP benefits, and the overall shortcomings of the administration.
This time, JB Pritzker is making waves online with his comments about Donald Trump’s handling of the education system. On October 19, while addressing the attendees at the Illinois Federation of Teachers’ triennial convention in Rosemont, Pritzker said:
“President Trump and his bootlickers have torn down the U.S. Dept. of Education from the inside. Instead of helping to improve math and reading scores like you all are doing and supporting our educators, they’re making it harder for students to get ahead.”
Pritzker also accused the Trump administration of erasing history and setting back the education sector several years by imposing harmful rules on students and teachers. He stated:
“Books are being banned. History is being erased. Republicans want to take billions away from public schools and pump it into private institutions. They want to punish teachers for telling the truth. They want to criminalize educators for supporting LGBTQ students. They want to turn classrooms into cultural war battlegrounds. And I’m sorry to be vulgar, but Donald Trump and his cronies can f— all the way off.”
Videos of JB Pritzker dropping the F-bomb on Donald Trump have gone viral on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), sparking widespread discussion among individuals about current issues. One person commented under one such video and wrote:
“Trump’s gutting of the Dept of Education isn’t “efficiency”, it’s a bigoted bonfire of books and kids’ futures, proving he’s the real illiterate in chief.”
Several others shared similar sentiments. As many know, Trump isn’t the biggest supporter of logic and reason. Evidence of this is his and his party members’ heavy reliance on various conspiracy theories, with one of the most recent suggesting that Tylenol causes autism in children. Can you believe it? Therefore, although Trump and his Republican allies may not explicitly state that they are actively trying to manipulate the US education system, it’s not hard to imagine they are negatively impacting it internally, especially considering the comments they have made publicly over the past few months.
