'He's starting' - Chelsea fans spot major team news hint as Thomas Tuchel drops injury bombshell

Thomas Tuchel dropped a bombshell at his Chelsea press conference on Friday afternoon when he revealed in the final seconds that Mateo Kovacic will be out for a number of weeks with a hamstring injury.

But many fans feel a hint has been dropped as to his replacement after Saul Niguez posted on Twitter in the evening.

Kovacic has been one of the Blues best performers during Tuchel's tenure and will undoubtedly be a big loss in the coming games but after showing significant improvement against Southampton in midweek, maybe Saul can step up against Newcastle.

In his press conference, Tuchel was asked what he had done in order to get the best out of Kovacic.

"We had very sad news yesterday after training that he suffers from a hamstring injury and he will be out for some weeks," Tuchel told his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

"He will be out for next week and then comes the national break where he will be out. It is a minimum of these weeks but hopefully he can be back after.

"He injured his hamstring doing a little bit too much in training. It is also my fault which describes the answer."

Summer recruit Saul shared a post of his own in the evening, a simple image of himself looking cheery as he arrived for training, captioned with a waving emoji.

Plenty of Chelsea fans took this as a hint that he would now be starting in midfielder in the absence of Kovacic. Here is the best of what they had to say.
