'He's probably the best mentor you can have' - Dion Kelly-Evans hails Notts County skipper Michael Doyle

Dion Kelly-Evans believes Michael Doyel is “probably the best mentor you can have” as the Notts County defender hailed the midfielder’s influence,

Skipper Doyle has been in sensational form as the Magpies have soared into the thick of the playoff race, and created Connell Rawlinson’s winner in the 2-1 victory over Bromley at the weekend.

The former Coventry captain’s leadership qualities have been hailed by Neal Ardley this season and the 38-year-old will be a key figure as Notts chase a top-seven finish,

And his importance has also not gone unnoticed by young defender Kelly-Evans who played alongside the midfielder during his time at the Sky Blues.

“He’s probably the best mentor you can have,” he said.

“He is a winner. People see him on Saturday that he’s not afraid to open his mouth and give an opinion, but he does it for the right reasons.

“Even when I was Coventry, he was always there and somebody I could talk to.

“He gives you guidance and is a big person to have in the dressing room for the young boys especially.

“He’s here to help and while they may not see it that way at times, but he always means well.”
