'He's off' - Club chief confirms Fouad Bachirou exit amid Nottingham Forest transfer rumours

Fouad Bachirou is closing in on a move to Nottingham Forest and missed Malmo's training session today, according to reports in Sweden.

Website fotbollskanalen are reporting that Bachirou missed training with Malmo, managed by former AC Milan striker Jon Dahl Tomasson.

The same outlet is also claiming that Malmo's sporting director, Daniel Andersson, has confirmed that Bachirou is leaving Malmo.

It emerged yesterday that Sabri Lamouchi 's Reds had agreed to sign Bachirou for around £600,000 and that the player is due for a medical with the club.

Bachirou is a product of Paris Saint-Germain's academy and counts Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton and Swedish outfit Ostersunds among his former clubs.

The 17-cap Comoros international now looks set to become Forest 's fourth signing of the summer, following Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett and Lyle Taylor through the door at the City Ground.

Andersson is quoted as saying today: "He's off and meets another club. I can say no more."

Bachirou is an unknown quality to Reds fans but his grounding is a good one. He learned alongside one of the best defensive midfielders - his position - in Paris: Claude Makelele.

"Makelele was the best in the world in his position for many years so to learn from him was a real honour," Bachirou told the BBC back in January.

"Like him I was a small central midfielder and I had actually been rejected by Auxerre and Nice when I was younger because they didn't think I was big enough.

"It used to be that everyone wanted tall, powerful midfielders like Patrick Vieira but Makelele changed that - he was the exception, the small guy in midfield who could still win a lot of balls, and influence the game.

"He made me believe I could make it."
