"He's no Pablo" Leeds United fans react as Derby County complete the signing of Wayne Rooney

Derby County have completed their sensational swoop for former Manchester United and England international Wayne Rooney.

The 33-year-old has joined the Rams on an 18-month contract which will start in January following the end of the Major League Soccer season.

Rooney has been with DC United since 2018 after agreeing a move to the United States from Everton.

However, the former Everton youngster has agreed a deal with Leeds United’s Championship rivals, where he will operate in a player-coach role.

He will bolster Phillip Cocu’s striking options, while also continuing his progression as a coach with both the first team and the academy.

Rooney, sadly, won’t be appearing at Elland Road this season, with the Whites due to take on the Rams on September 21 in West Yorkshire, but travelling supporters will get a glimpse of England’s all-time record scorer in the reverse fixture, on April 25.

He scored 23 goals in 41 league games for DC United, but is back to England for his foray into the Championship.

With one of England’s all-time greats back in the country, fans across the nation have understandably gone mad on social media.

This is no different in West Yorkshire with Leeds United, with supporters having a few interesting comments for the Premier League legend.
