'He's made big sacrifices' - Lee Johnson explains why Kasey Palmer has rejoined Bristol City from Chelsea

Bristol City have confirmed the permanent signing of Kasey Palmer from Chelsea.

The Robins have completed a four-year deal for the former Huddersfield Town player, who is able to play across the attacking midfield positions.

Palmer becomes the club's eighth transfer of this summer window, and a third capture from Chelsea following Tomas Kalas and Jay Dasilva returning to BS3 on permanent deals.

It was reported that Swansea City were in talks for the attacking midfielder too but the Robins have win the race for the 22-year-old's signature.

And Lee Johnson has explained that Palmer has made "big sacrifices" to move to Ashton Gate.

“I’ve been really impressed with his application and focus over the off-season period," he said.

“Kasey has made big sacrifices to come here and we truly believe Bristol City and Kasey will be a fantastic match moving forward.”

The switch comes after club CEO Mark Ashton confirmed interest in the midfielder earlier this week and following Palmer appearing in videos training in Bristol City training wear earlier this summer.

"Kasey is one of the players that we like, as do a number of other football clubs. I think it is proven we have got a really good relationship with Chelsea with the business we have done this year and in previous years," said Ashton to a BBC Bristol Sports Forum at the beginning of the week.

"Kasey is one that is on our radar but so are a number of players."
