Liverpool fans are ecstatic on social media this afternoon after the club confirmed the arrival of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.
The Reds opened talks with the German champions on Monday and discussions quickly accelerated across the week after a fee of £20million was agreed between the two European giants.
Liverpool will also pay a further £5m in add-ons to land the Spain international for what is viewed inside Anfield as a relatively modest fee for a two-time Champions League winner at the peak of his powers.
The Spanish playmaker becomes the Reds' second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas, penning a four-year deal at Anfield.
The 29-year-old will wear the number six shirt, which he previously wore at Bayern, after it was left vacant following Dejan Lovren's exit.
After sealing the move to Anfield, Thiago told Liverpoolfc.com: “I think it’s an amazing feeling. I was waiting for this moment for a long time and I am very, very happy to be here."
