'He's got quality' - Former Germany goalkeeper tells club to sign Loris Karius from Liverpool

Former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese has explained why he thinks one of his former clubs should move to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Having failed to make a single first-team appearance for the Reds in nearly four years, Karius’ time at Anfield is nearing its conclusion. His last outing for Liverpool came in the 2018 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, and a few weeks later Alisson Becker was brought into the club.

Karius has had loan stints with Besiktas and Union Berlin, but neither led to permanent moves away from Merseyside. The club were prepared to let the player leave as a free agent in January, but no potential new club emerged.

Wiese, who retired as a footballer in 2017 and is now a professional wrestler by the name The Machine, believes that his old club Werder Bremen should sign Karius. The 40-year-old argued why Liverpool’s decision to sign Karius in the first place is evidence why the stopper is worth taking a chance on.

“In the top flight, the club would have to look for a seasoned keeper,” Wiese told Bild, via Fussball News . “For me, Loris Karius would be one for Werder.

“He’s a free transfer, hasn’t played for a long time. But, in Mainz, he showed what he’s capable of.

“He’s got quality, otherwise Liverpool wouldn’t have signed him.”
