'He's got a big ego...': England pacer opens up on Virat Kohli challenge ahead of Test series

NEW DELHI: When facing India, opposing teams prioritise strategising against the run machine Virat Kohli. Teams chalk out plans and bowlers employ various tactics and strategies, aiming to thwart Virat's prolific batting and prevent him from unleashing his full potential on the field.

With India are set to face England in the five-match series, the visiting team's lethal weapon Ollie Robinson said Virat has got a big ego and the star batter is going to dominate the red-ball series.

Robinson dismissed Virat thrice when India toured England in 2021.

Top 10: Highest run-scorers in India-England Test matches

"You always want to play against the best players, don't you? And you always want to get the best players out. Kohli is one of those. He's got a big ego and I think playing on that, especially in India, where he is going to want to dominate and score runs, playing on the fact we've had battles in the past, is exciting," Robinson told ESPN Cricinfo.

The England pacer has played four Tests against India, all in England, and it will be the first time he will be bowling in Indian conditions.

For the 30-year-old pacer, a successful tour of India might catapult him into a different league.

"If I can have a big tour in India, then it should set me up for a while. If I do well, I can cement myself back in the team," the England pacer said.

Following the opening game in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamshala will be the venues for the Tests between India and England.
