'He's frustrated' - Ryan Giggs gives update on Manchester United's Daniel James that could put Leeds United on red alert

Ryan Giggs admits Daniel James is growing increasingly frustrated at his lack of game time, but believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will still want to keep the winger at Manchester United.

After a bright start to his Old Trafford career, James has endured a difficult year at Old Trafford, having seen himself fall down the pecking order.

Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have be preferred to the Welshman, who has played just six Premier League games this season.

It's a situation that has already seen the winger's future become the source of intense speculation ahead of this summer's Euros.

Leeds United are understood to have made an approach over the summer, having infamously missed out on a move on the final day of the January window back in 2019.

The Whites are believed to still be keen admirers of James, but it remains to be seen whether they will be tempted to revive a possible move.

Sources close to the player have previously told Wales Online that James is keen on staying at United, but the arrival of 18-year old Amad Diallo could limit his playing opportunities even further.

"I know that Dan is frustrated. Just like any other player who isn’t getting regular football," Giggs told The Mirror.

"But when you are at a big club like United when you get the chance, take it.”

However, he also believes Solskjaer is unlikely to allow James to leave in this window as United look to further build on their title challenge.

“We are in unknown territory,” continued Giggs.

“Where you don’t have a lot of time. A lot of games squeezed into a short space of time.

“So, I think Ole would keep as many quality players in the club as he can."
