'He's a quality player': Steve Bruce confirms Newcastle United's Danny Rose interest

Steve Bruce has admitted that he would like to sign Danny Rose in the January transfer window - but the deal is still very much up in the air.

The England left-back is contracted until 2021 and is on £60,000 per week at Tottenham Hotspur.

Rose does not want to take a hit on his wages and will play hardball with Spurs to ensure he gets what he feels he is worth.

At 29, he is going into an important chapter of his career and will want a pay day before he retires.

When asked about Rose, Bruce said today: “”It would be wrong for me to sit and talk about other people’s players.

“He’s a quality player and a class act the kid. Whether it’s possible, who knows?”

Newcastle are currently assessing what else is available at left-back.

United are likely to take injured Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett out of the squad but nothing has been finalised at this stage in terms of squad numbers.
