'He's a credit to Bristol City' - The amazing gesture Scott Murray made to a Middlesbrough fan

You'll struggle to find anyone in Bristol with a bad word to say about Scott Murray, and the Robins legend is winning fans around the country.

Middlesbrough fans Richard Brown and son Jacob were watching Bristol City going through some shooting drills 15 minutes before the Championship match between the two teams at the Riverside on Tuesday night.

Except the City players kept missing the target which prompted Jacob to stand up, jokingly hold up a card, point and gesture for them to leave the field.

Murray, now club kitman after more than 350 appearances for City over two spells, ambled over and beckoned Jacob towards the pitch before holding an impromptu game of head tennis in front of the South Stand and then handed the 23-year-old a Bristol City training top.

"What a nice bloke and what a nice gesture, I thought to myself, 'he didn't have to do that'. He's a credit to Bristol and Bristol City," said Richard, 50, who has been watching Boro since 1974.

"The crowd gave Scott a nice round of applause as well. It was just a lovely thing to do.

"It was all good banter and that's what you need at the football. I just wish they had carried on shooting that way!"

City's 1-0 victory on Teeside failed to dampen spirits as Richard and Jacob, from Northallerton, North Yorkshire, went to meet Murray after the game as the former winger posed for a picture and then handed over a box of chocolates.

"Jacob loves the tracksuit top, he's worn it every day since!" Richard added. "He even posed with a load of Boro players after the game with it on.

"He's worn it to work and everything. I think I'm going to have start limiting how much he puts it on.

"Am I worried? No, Jacob's Boro through and through but he will definitely start looking out for Bristol City's results now."
