'He needs to adapt' - Eden Hazard calls for patience over N'Golo Kante's new Chelsea role

Eden Hazard says Chelsea fans must be patient with Maurizio Sarri’s current handling of N’Golo Kante.

After a superb start to life in English football, Sarri has seen some of his methods at Stamford Bride come under scrutiny – namely the decision to move Kante from his holding role in midfield.

The France international is widely regarded as one of the game’s best in a deeper role but Sarri’s decision to move him into a more attacking position with summer signing Jorginho now occupying the space in front of the Blues’ defence has been questioned.

Speaking to The Times, Hazard was quizzed on Kante’s new role, insisting the World Cup winner is still adapting to his new role.

“N’Golo’s a clever guy, one of the best in his position, maybe the best in the world. N’Golo now plays six months in the different position.

"He needs to adapt. When we win, everyone will say, ‘Yes, he plays in his [best] position, and if we lose everyone will say, ‘No, he needs to go a bit behind’. Depends only on the result.”

Chelsea travel to champions Manchester City on Sunday with Manchester United and Arsenal now just two and three points behind the Blues respectively.
