Following speculation over the weekend that Liverpool might be ready to give up on Naby Keita after just one season, the ECHO's LFC club reporter Ian Doyle has revealed that the midfielder will be going nowhere this summer.
Reports had suggested that after a difficult debut campaign in the Premier League from a personal point of view, the Guinea international could be set for a premature return to the Bundesliga - after all the Reds have made swift decisions on offloading big money signings when they failed to live up to expectations - such as Robbie Keane and Christian Benteke.
However, every utterance from Klopp regarding Keita has been consistently positive, while heavily hinting his best form will come next season.
Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is going nowhere under Jurgen Klopp this year
Therefore we asked our readers whether Keita deserves more time to come good for Liverpool and here are a selection of some of your responses.
Husny Mohammed If Henderson and Lallana are still Liverpool players then Keita deserves more than a chance
Brock Gorton They waited a year just to get this guy, may as well give him the chance
Linard Lazar Yes one more season
Aaron Jackson He’s a young player coming into a new league new language new team mates it will take him to adapt. There’s a world
class player there and if you can’t see it you're blind.
Matt Heenan Yes of course you don’t become a bad player overnight
Paul Merrifield Simple instructions in positional play and movement without the ball is the motto .... once Keita has that understanding he will be ready in tune with the other 10 players on the fields of Anfield and beyond YNWA
Plain Lucky Klopp should stop playing Milner and Hendo. Fabinho, Gini and Keita should be our midfield 3. Fabinho will provide cover while Gini and Keita provide creativity. Our front 3 lack supply because of the midfield of Milner and Hendo.
Daniel Henry Yes. Every other player has been given the time to adapt so why shouldn’t he be given the same?
Ezra Morrison Recoup the losses. Sell him. He’s not fitted for the Premier League. Buy Reuben Neves and Fekir.
Why Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is a 'winner' whose talents go underappreciated
Euwyne Parker Naby Keita just needs to strengthen up for the Premier League and learn to be physically strong against the opposition!
David Robert Ball Think he just needs a few more games. Remember we didn't play Robertson for a good couple of months and he would be my 1st pick in the team now.
Sunny Sukhoo He is going back to the Bundesliga
Jimmy Cherry 50mil a waste of money, get shut fast, and get someone else in. Who? I’d say the kid from Wolves.
Gan Tian Eng Fabinho took some time to settle in. We should give Keita more playing time
Nana Beniako People are saying he needs the to settle in. That is totally untrue. He settled in well during pre-season and had an awesome first league game against Crystal Palace during when Fabinho was struggling. Klopp said "It's easy for Keita because Leipzig play pressing football just as Liverpool do". The next game, he was benched needlessly. Klopp is killing Keita. If he thinks, Milner-Henderson-Gini are good for the job why buy him with such an amount just to be on the bench. Keita should look elsewhere. He'll be a much much better player in a good team.
Liverpool transfer rumours rated - Sadio Mane front page news in Spain, De Ligt set for talks?
Ant Cornish There is potential there, at the moment he's just losing the ball too much with these mad runs he does
Tony Yalda Hasn't been terrible. In fact he was picking up form before he got dropped, just players that are performing better and no need to drop them.
Kieran Mcfarlane He has had injury problems all season, never managed to get a run of games and get into his stride. You can see he is getting better so just be patient
