Nottingham Forest legend Garry Birtles has delivered his verdict on the appointment of Chris Hughton.
Hughton has taken charge of the Reds in the wake of Sabri Lamouchi being sacked.
"I think Chris Hughton will be a popular appointment," Birtles told Garibaldi Red.
"He's managed in the Premier League, he's got teams promoted.
"He knows what it is all about and he knows the Championship, which is a massive bonus with a new manager coming in.
"I hope he can turn it around."
Lamouchi has been axed after just 15 months at the helm at the City Ground.
"I don't think you are ever happy to see someone get the sack," added Birtles.
"But that is the nature of the game when things don't go right.
"Managers get very little time."
