'He is Shearer like' - Gary Neville's glowing praise for Harry Kane following North London Derby

Gary Neville has issued his own glowing praise the way of Spurs striker Harry Kane, insisting he is the closest thing to Alan Shearer.

The 28-year-old was in superb form as the Lilywhites cruised to a 3-0 victory over Arsenal, finding the net twice during the first 45 minutes.

Antonio Conte's side is now just one point behind their North London rivals, with only two Premier League games remaining until the end of the season.

With Kane taking his tally this term to 25 following his brace on Thursday evening, Neville spoke candidly of the England international, insisting questions were asked regarding the player's form in the early part of the 21/22 campaign.

"Earlier on in the season, there was this feeling that his time here was up, that he wasn't happy, his form and gone, a sort of what's happened to Harry Kane,'' began the former Manchester United defender, speaking on his Sky Sports podcast.

"Sometimes it can be a little bit embarrassing when you look at the conversations you had about the same player six months ago. I have always said this is gold Harry Kane. This is the most reliable thing you can invest in. I had him at England as assistant to Roy Hodgson, and honestly, he is unbreakable up here. He is Shearer like.

"He is the only person I have ever seen who is like Shearer, who has emotion, of course, but he's completely sober in every aspect of his life. The way he thinks about the game, his preparation, he will get the chances. The repetition of the strike into the far corner, Shearer was exactly the same."
