Ben White 'stood out' in the Championship while on loan at Leeds United and his achievement of playing every minute of the promotion campaign has been hailed as 'really impressive'.
That's the view of Brighton's pathway development manager David Weir.
The 22-year-old was a key part of the Whites defence which sealed Leeds United's place back in the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
White turned out nearly 50 times last season for the Elland Road club and played every minute for Marcelo Bielsa's men in the Championship.
Intense speculation surrounds White's future and where he will be playing his football in the 2020/21 campaign.
Leeds are attempting to bring White back to West Yorkshire, while Liverpool and Manchester City have also tracked the defender in the past.
And Weir, a former Everton, Rangers and Scotland defender, hailed White's achievement of playing every minute of Leeds' Championship campaign.
But he has suggested his immediate future may lie at the AMEX Stadium and 'prove' to Graham Potter's side that he is a Premier League player.
Weir told the Seagulls website: "Ben played every minute, which is really impressive. Like Christian Walton he has come through and played at different levels and matched the level expected of him.
"He has stood out in the Championship – he has continued to improve at a gradual rate. Now he has to come back to us and prove that he is a Premier League player.
"He has shown that he is good enough to be promoted out of the Championship and be consistent."
