He Has Risen: Survivor’s Jonathan LaPaglia Returns To Reality TV With Binge Series Apocalypse

Sound the fucking trumpets!!!! Ex-Australian Survivor zaddy Jonathan LaPaglia has returned to reality TV, this time with streaming giant Binge.

Trading castaways for doomsday survivors, LaPaglia’s return to reality TV has been confirmed with Binge’s announcement of its new series, APOCALYPSE.

This TV gig will see the former Australian Survivor zaddy play narrator as viewers explore the question, “Could you survive the end of the world?”

“When I first heard about APOCALYPSE, I was immediately drawn to the scale and ambition of the project. I’ve spent years watching people navigate pressure, strategy and uncertainty, but this takes those dynamics into a completely new environment,” LaPaglia said of his new gig.

“Dropping ordinary people into a post-disaster world where every decision matters creates a fascinating test of resilience, relationships and survival. I can’t wait for audiences to experience the twists, challenges and unexpected moments that unfold.”

Reflecting on that, I could survive ~anything~ if LaPaglia is on my side.

The exciting announcement comes more than a year after he was devastatingly axed from Australian Survivor’s hosting duties following 10 years with the show.

“We can confirm that the upcoming season of Survivor: Australia v The World will be the last series hosted by the formidable Jonathan LaPaglia,” Network 10 said in a June 30 2025 post, confirming LaPaglia’s departure.

Two months later, David ‘Golden God’ Genat was confirmed as the new host, with 2026’s season marking his first season as top dawg.

What is APOCALYPSE about?

Based in a real ghost town that has been turned into a “training centre for urban warfare”, APOCALYPSE is an eight-part series where ordinary people are pushed to their limits when it comes to rebuilding and reconnecting during the world’s end days.

“A group of strangers dropped in an abandoned town with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Their mission: to survive 28 days with no food, no power, and no rules. Could you survive the end of the world?” LaPaglia said in a teaser for the incoming series.

An airdate for the series has yet to be confirmed, but once that is locked, we’ll be here with the tea.
