Rafa Benitez is widely considered Newcastle United's best manager since Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson.
He was certainly the most popular and his departure earlier this month left Magpies fans fuming with the club's hierarchy and their lack of ambition.
The appointment of Steve Bruce as his replacement was deemed 'unambitious' by influential supporters' groups and fans are threatening to boycott the opening Premier League game of the season against Arsenal in protest at Mike Ashley's ownership.
However, there is almost always an exception to the rule, and in this case, Magpies fan Matt, who called TalkSPORT's DriveTime on Tuesday evening, is that exception.
In an extraordinary rant he claimed Benitez had poisoned the city against the club and he had no intention of staying on Tyneside this summer.
"I think Rafa Benitez has been frauding us Newcastle fans for the last two seasons," he said.
"I am totally on the flipside of everything that is going on. I think the fans should back the players, back Steve Bruce and I think Rafa ha been mugging us off for the last two seasons.
When asked how by presenters Adrian Durham and Matt Holland, he continued:
"He has played on the fans singing 'Rafa this, Rafa that', he would have left us at any time for a top six or a top European club.
"He had no intention of staying beyond three years at the club. He has had a microphone all season and he has just said what we wanted to hear.
"He has poisoned Newcastle against Newcastle."
