Richarlison has been fined by Everton for picking up a suspension for five bookings, Rafa Benitez has strongly suggested.
The Brazilian will miss this weekend's trip to Brentford after being cautioned in the defeat to Manchester City last weekend.
Benitez said 'normal' procedures have taken place since Richarlison was hit with the one-match ban, which is believed to mean the 24-year-old has been fined, as per club rules.
"I think that everybody knows what the process is in a football team," Benitez said.
"You have some proceedings, normal things, he knows, he realised he has made a mistake. But the main thing for me is to clear his mind and he has to be ready to be an important player for us in the next games."
Richarlison, who was unaware he had previously picked up four bookings prior to the match, will be eligible to face Liverpool at Goodison Park next Wednesday and Benitez wants to see more from the £35m man.
"Without Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] he is a key player for us and he has to be one of the best players during the season," Benitez added.
"He did well last year but he can do better because he has the potential to do better."
Richarlison has scored twice in eight league appearances this term.
