'He has arrived' - Chelsea fans in dreamland as Timo Werner breaks Premier League duck

Timo Werner scored his first Premier League goals for Chelsea this afternoon - and Blues fans were delighted watching it.

The former RB Leipzig forward was one of Frank Lampard's big summer signings but had failed to find the net in his opening four Premier League games.

But that all changed against Southampton at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

Werner thought he had got the opener after 14 minutes when he headed home Ben Chilwell's cross, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The Germany international didn't have to wait long, though, as a lovely individual goal saw him fire home into the bottom corner on the quarter-hour mark.

And like London buses, his second arrived after 28 minutes.

Jorginho played a wonderful ball over the top and Werner beat his man to it. He then nodded over Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy before tapping home.

After his first-half showing, Chelsea fans were full of praise for their summer signing and delighted to see him hit the goal trail.

Chelsea are looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League after a 4-0 thumping of Crystal Palace before the international break, last time out.

Danny Ings halved the deficit two minutes before half-time to make it 2-1 to Chelsea.
