'He could be ideal' - former Leeds United man comes up with solution to Eddie Nketiah exit concerns

Leeds United would do well to sign Everton's Cenk Tosun if  Eddie Nketiah  is to exit  Elland Road  in the new year, according to one big-name pundit.

Danny Mills believes that the Turkey international would make for a suitable replacement up front for  the Whites  if the Arsenal loanee is to exit the club.

Reports have swirled that England youth star Nketiah may be recalled early by the Gunners due to what is felt to be limited opportunities under  Marcelo Bielsa .

Several other Championship clubs have been linked with taking the forward on a short-term basis until the end of the campaign if so.

If Nketiah is to exit West Yorkshire, Leeds would likely look to plug the gap during the January transfer window, and Mills feels that Toffees man Tosun is a major candidate.

The 28-year-old has seen his own game-time at Goodison Park restricted, and with the club currently poised to unveil a successor to the departed Marco Silva, he may wish to cut his losses and leave.

Mills spoke about prior links suggesting interest from Leeds in Tosun, telling Football Insider:  “I think it’s probably a back-up solution if Nketiah leaves.

“I think he’s not been prolific Everton but we have seen he is hard-working, diligent, obviously got quality may not quite enough for the Premier League.

“But he could be an ideal replacement, as he has experience, if Nketiah goes back to Arsenal.”

Tosun has made just six appearances this season with one goal but is tied down to a long-term deal on Merseyside, keeping him with the Premier League club until 2022 as it stands.
