'He bullies people' - Martin Keown's MOTD2 verdict on 'exceptional' Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson has been 'exceptional' for Newcastle this season and 'bullies' Premier League defences.

That is the verdict of former Arsenal and England defender Martin Keown who sung Wilson's praises during his analysis of Newcastle's 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday.

Wilson bagged a brace at St James' Park to not only take his tally for the season to six goals but also to grab a vital three points for the Magpies.

The 28-year-old coolly converted his first from the penalty spot, after drawing a foul from Toffees midfielder Andre Gomes, before being in the right place to finish Ryan Fraser's cross from the left-hand side to double United's advantage.

Newcastle 2-1 Everton - Lee Ryder's Verdict

Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled one back for Everton in stoppage time but it proved to be a mere consolation.

Wilson's positive impact since joining Newcastle from Bournemouth in the summer has been keenly felt and he is is surely in contention for a recall to Gareth Southgate's England squad this week.

And three-time Premier League winner, Keown, was full of praise for the Magpies' talisman.

"He’s been exceptional," Keown told MOTD 2.

"£20m and two goals today. He can’t stop scoring, I think he bullies people the way he plays.

It was a real battle between him and Mina but he’s a willing runner. They didn’t have much possession but, when they did, he occupied both centre-backs. They had a real problem dealing with him.

"For me it was a penalty. Wilson was up quickly to put it away. Mina gave him a little bit but he kept his concentration and put it away.

"Steve Bruce must be absolutely delighted with the goals he’s scoring. He’s really enjoying his football at the moment."
