HDR Arrives to Console Version of Immortals of Aveum

Prepare for a new gameplay experience. (Credit: Electronic Arts)

Good news for console players Immortals of Aveum! High dynamic range (HRD) support is now available for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S. With this, the game takes on a new life with more vibrant colors, brighter highlights, and even deeper shadows. It allows for a richer experience and a more visually captivating journey. This is all made possible through the Ascendant Studios and AMD's partner studio Enduring Games.

In a post, Ascendant Studios revealed that introducing HDR to the game was something that they were passionate about. The studio added that they wanted to give players those "gorgeous HDR visuals" and it meant doing it right. They went on to say that once HDR was available in Unreal Engine 5, they immediately went to work.

It wasn't an easy task especially since the studio had an issue particularly with the Caldera level. It appeared that HDR didn't result in what they wanted it to be so there was extra work that needed to be done. These included new lava shaders, new VFX, and even other touch ups.

While this is indeed excellent news for console players, those on the PC need to wait a bit longer. It's set to arrive on a future update though no actual date has been revealed.

More to Come

Exciting as the news of HDR support now available, there's more to come. The studio shared that AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) is coming to the game through the upcoming patch 1.0.6.4. This is for all platforms, meaning the PlayStation and Xbox consoles along with the PC. Once this happens, it's going to be an exciting milestone since it makes Immortals of Aveum the very first game to introduce FSR 3 with frame generation.

This upcoming FSR 3 update is also going to extend support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) monitors and TVs on both PC and console. It's set to improve frame pacing and reduce occurrences of judder or screen tears. By the way, the FSR 3 on PC is going to be updated to a newer and better version that further improves visual quality and performance of its temporal upscaling.

Immortals of Aveum is available for the PC, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X/S.
