BENGALURU: HD Kumaraswamy, former chief minister and senior JD(S) party functionary, said if right-wing organisations like Bajrang Dal, VHP and RSS really care about people’s well-being, they should protest rising prices of motor fuels and essential commodities.
He also asked chief minister Basavaraj Bommai to raise his voice against price rise which is hurting the common man.
At a rally organised by his party to protest price rise on Friday, Kumaraswamy said BJP and right-wing organisations have been pushing issues like hijab and halal meat to the forefront only to divert attention of people from rising prices of com modities. The CM is encouraging such groups by being silent, he said.
“The cost of a cylinder has crossed Rs 1,000 and that of steel has touched Rs 1 lakh per tonne,” he said. “The price of a bag of cement has crossed Rs 500. How will the common man sustain such a rise? But the state and the central government are not bothered,” he said, calling upon people to condemn the anti-poor policies of both the governments.
He said his party will or ganise a statewide movement to dethrone BJP in the next assembly elections. He also said that the state government denied his party permission to hold a march to protest price rise.
