A Grand Celebration at Noida Campus
HCL Group recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with a large-scale event at its Noida campus, bringing together employees to commemorate its long journey in the technology industry.
The highlight of the evening was a live performance by Arijit Singh, which added a festive and memorable touch to the celebration.
The event was also attended by key figures from the organization, including founder Shiv Nadar, along with Kiran Nadar and Roshni Nadar, making it a significant moment for both leadership and employees.
Metro Access Becomes the Highlight
While the concert and celebrations were grand, it was the post-event travel arrangement that truly caught public attention.
To ensure employees could return home safely after the late-night event, metro services were extended until 12:30 AM. Employees were allowed free entry into the Delhi Metro and Noida Metro by simply showing their HCL ID cards—eliminating the need to purchase tickets.
This gesture was aimed at convenience and safety, but it soon became the most talked-about aspect of the entire event.
Viral Video Ignites Social Media Discussion
The conversation gained momentum after an employee, Ayush Singh, shared a video on Instagram that quickly went viral.
In the video, he expressed his surprise and appreciation, saying he hadn’t expected such arrangements from the company. He described the free metro access as the “best part of the concert,” highlighting how the experience exceeded his expectations.
The clip, captioned with “Perks of being a tech guy at HCLTech,” resonated widely and sparked reactions across social media platforms.
Mixed Reactions from the Public
As the video circulated, users shared a range of opinions.
Some appreciated the initiative, comparing it favorably to their own workplaces where only limited travel reimbursements are provided.
Others pointed out that while the gesture was thoughtful, arranging cabs might have been a more comfortable option for late-night travel.
There were also humorous takes, with users joking that such perks might come at the cost of employee appraisals or work-life balance. Comments like “Ye hi appraisal hai bhai” and “Appraisals mein adjust hoga yeh luxury treatment” reflected a mix of sarcasm and amusement.
From Celebration to Conversation
What began as a milestone celebration has evolved into a broader discussion about corporate culture, employee benefits, and workplace expectations.
The combination of a high-profile concert and thoughtful travel arrangements has not only marked a historic moment for HCL but also sparked conversations about how organizations engage with and support their employees beyond the workplace.
As the video continues to circulate, the incident stands as a reminder that in today’s digital age, even a single moment from a corporate event can quickly become a nationwide talking point.
