HC orders adding Hingot Yudh groups as respondents

Indore: Indore bench of MP high court directed petitioner for adding two groups involved in ‘War of Hingot’ as respondent in PIL demanding ban and to serve notices to them.

The division bench of Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Amar Nath (Kesharwani) issued directions on Thursday asking for final hearing of the PIL after going through the state government reply.

The state government stated that the War of Hingot had been observed as religious, cultural practice in the Gautampura area for years. The state however denied any record showing its start date.

Such practices were given protection in the constitution and the state government made all safety arrangements for it every year, AAG Pushyamitra Bhargav said.

The PIL was filed by a retired government officer Sadhu Prasad Namdeo through advocate Prateek Maheshwari.
