JAIPUR: In a major setback for the state government, the high court on Tuesday cancelled the RAS preliminary exam results. The court, while deleting one disputed question, referred four other questions to an expert committee.
The RPSC was directed to constitute the committee to finalise answers to the four questions, based on which the revised merit list will be declared.
This has put a question mark on the mains exam to be held on February 25-26.
The single bench of Justice Mahendra Goel gave this order while deciding on a bunch of petitions challenging about a dozen questions. The court rejected objections to other questions.
"The final answer key issued on November 22, 2021 is quashed to the extent as stated above. Resultantly, the result declared on November 19, 2021 stands quashed. The RPSC is directed to revise the result of the preliminary examination and to prepare a fresh list of candidates eligible to appear in the mains examination accordingly," said the court order.
Ram Pratap Saini, counsel for the petitioner Ankit Sharma, said the court had held that option 1 of question number 62 of the RAS prelim exam was the correct answer.
In such a situation, now the main exam could be held only after the RAS preliminary exam results are revised.
The prelim exam for RAS recruitment 2021 was held on October 27 last year and the results were declared on November 19.
Disregarding protest by some students, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had the other day said the RAS mains would be held as per schedule on February 25-26 as postponing it would jeopardise the RPSC calendar and delay recruitment.
Following the court order, there was jubilation among agitating students at the Rajasthan University who had sought a change in the date of the main exam.
