Hazardous Area Response Team called to incident and road closed causing delays to buses

A road through Annesley was closed on Monday morning so that emergency services could respond to a patient at home.

The Hazardous Area Response Team, a crewed ambulance, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and Nottinghamshire Police were all called to the incident at a private address in Forest Road.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 8am on April 15 to a private address in Kirkby-in-Ashfield .

"The caller reported that they were experiencing a medical emergency.

"We sent our Hazardous Area Response Team and a crewed ambulance, and one patient was taken to Kings Mill Hospital.”

The Hazardous Area Response Team is a group of specially-recruited paramedics who provide respond to incidents involving chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) or other hazardous materials.

The team also attend incidents such as train crashes, large-scale motorway accidents, building collapses, caving incidents or significant fires.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue confirmed they were also in attendance.

A spokesman said: "Crews from Ashfield and Mansfield were called at 9.47am to assist paramedics with an incident on Forest Road, Annesley.

"The road was partially closed whilst firefighters worked alongside paramedics to deal with the incident. It has since re-opened.

"Crews had left the scene by 11.21am."

Nottinghamshire Police were also called to assist with the road closure.

All three emergency services confirmed they attended but would not provide further details about the nature of the incident.

Trentbarton tweeted to say that 15 stops through Annesley would be missed due to the incident on Forest Road.

The road reopened at around midday.
