Hayward Gallery is giving away free tickets to Kiss My Genders exhibition to celebrate Pride

This weekend is the biggest event in the queer calendar – it’s Pride.

The Southbank Centre’s Hayward Gallery is celebrating by offering free tickets to the Kiss My Genders exhibition on Saturday.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to enter free of charge between 11am and 7pm.

Kiss My Genders features more than 100 artworks exploring gender fluidity and trans, non-binary and intersex identities. Pieces on display include a silk ball gown printed with the names of 25,000 people known to have died from AIDS related illnesses and photographic portraits showing the artist as superheroes and mythological deities.

Curator Vincent Honoré said that the exhibition “intends to be a wonderful celebration welcoming the brilliant differences and the rich spectra of genders within our society."

The Southbank is a hotspot for activities this Pride weekend, with an alternative after-party led by Pxssy Palace taking place at the venue. Just next door, the National Theatre’s River Stage is hosting a takeover from Haggerton queer pub The Glory from Friday to Sunday.

Kiss My Genders runs at the Southbank Centre until September 8, southbankcentre.co.uk
