She has since been inundated with messages from her former co-stars.

"Oh Hayley congratulations xxxx," Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor responded.

The soap star, who also starred in Dancing On Ice, announced she was expecting her first child with partner Adrian in April this year.

Sharing a photo grinning from ear to ear and wearing a peach coloured dress while holding her stomach protectively, Hayley told her followers: "EXCITING NEWS TWEET!! I'm so pleased to tell you all... I’m expecting my first child with my wonderful boyfriend Adrian!!

"I've always wanted to be a mum and didn't think I could have children. And now, at the ripe old age of 42 - I'M PREGNANT! We couldn't be happier."

Speaking to the M.E.N in August, Hayley said she would l ove her son to follow in her footsteps.

Asked if she's hoping her son will choose the same career path, she said:  "Yes it would be lovely if he did some sort of performing or music.

"But as long as he’s happy in his life then I’ll be happy. He can be whatever he wants to be."
