Hayley Lauder commits future to Glasgow City after signing new deal

Glasgow City’s Hayley Lauder says she’s ‘delighted’ after signing a new deal that take her beyond a decade at the club.

The Broxburn ace has penned a two-year extension with the SWPL1 club having first joined them in 2014 from Swedish outfit Vittsjo GIK.

Lauder, who has 103 Scotland caps to her name, has bagged nine trophies during her time at the club - including six league titles. The 32-year-old ranks ninth in the club’s all-time appearance list with 193 games as well as 71 goals.

And she has taken her first steps into the coaching side of things, too, having helped coach the club’s under-10 side this term.

Speaking about her deal, a thrilled Lauder commented: “I’m delighted to extend my contract with the club. It’s been a privilege to represent City for so long and I’m proud of what the club has achieved so far both on and off the pitch.

“The last eight years have been incredible and I’m excited to continue with Leanne (Ross) and the team.”

City are well placed to secure a remarkable 15th title in 16 seasons as they currently sit six points clear of Celtic and have enjoyed an unbeaten campaign thus far with 20 wins from their 22 top flight fixtures.

The Petershill Park side also booked their place in the Scottish Women’s Cup semi-final at the weekend thanks to a commanding 3-0 victory over Kilmarnock.

The club’s head coach, Leanne Ross, was a long-time team-mate of Lauder before taking over the managerial position earlier this year. She heaped praise on the verstalie star following the contract extension.

She commented: “We have been extremely fortunate to have a player of Hayley’s talents at Glasgow City for many years now.

“She has been a hugely important and influential player, driving standards and delivering top level performances and silverware season after season. Hayley is a leader, role model and an ultimate professional, everything I look for in a Glasgow City player.”

She added: “I am delighted she has extended her contract with us and I look forward to continuing to work with her over the seasons to come.”
