Hayley Group expands Humber footprint after Hull buy-out

A national engineering supplies distributor is planning to create 10 new jobs in Scunthorpe after successfully securing a 7,000 sq ft trade counter on a town business park.

Hayley Group Ltd, which was established in 1976 in the West Midlands and has grown to have more than 40 UK branches, will be opening its latest one-stop shop for engineering essentials at The Trade Yard, off Mannaberg Way.

Owned by Allenby Commercial and managed by PPH Commercial, this speculative build has already enjoyed much success after attracting a host of well-known occupiers including Screwfix, Enterprise Rent a Car, Toolstation, Motor Parts Direct and Howden Joinery.

Hayley Group is keen to expand its market share in the Humber area, choosing the premises, close to the junction with Normanby Road and the A1077, because of its excellent transport links.

David Williams-Berry, Hayley Group’s regional head of new business development, said: “As part of our expansion ambitions, we are determined to increase our operational footprint in the north and this Scunthorpe branch is part of our strategy to cover the Humber region.

“We’ve already created five full-time jobs at this store and we expect to create another 10 in the next 12 to 24 months, which is very pleasing as it should provide a real boost for the local economy.

“We chose this location because it has excellent access to Lincolnshire and the entire Humber region, particularly Grimsby and Immingham, and it follows on from our successful acquisition of Swan Industrial Drives in Hull last year.

“It’s a prestigious new-build development, which has allowed us to work closely alongside Allenby and PPH Commercial, two high-profile partners who have both offered us a wealth of experience and expertise.

“It’s really exciting times at the Hayley Group at the moment, particularly in the north. We’re looking forward to opening and meeting the first of what we hope will be many customers.”

Duncan Willey, the chartered surveyor who conducted the deal for PPH Commercial, said: “It’s very pleasing to help bring an established national company like the Hayley Group to Scunthorpe it gives the town’s economy a much-needed boost and proves that it’s worth investing in this area to other potential employers.

“Within the engineering world, the Hayley Group are known for their dedicated workforce and exceptional service levels so I’m sure this latest addition to their portfolio will prove to be a success.”
