Hayes Way to close overnight while new footbridge is installed near Cribbs Causeway

A link road to Cribbs Causeway will be closed overnight so a long-awaited footbridge can be installed.

Hayes Way, in Patchway, will be closed to all traffic from the Concorde roundabout to the Blenheim roundabout from 6pm tomorrow (September 3).

According to the South Gloucestershire Council Streetcare team, the road will be closed until the early hours of Wednesday morning (September 4) - but is expected to be reopened by morning rush hour.

The closure is to allow a new pedestrian footbridge to be placed over a ditch along Hayes Way.

The council has apologised for any convenience the closure may cause.

The work is being carried out by a contractor on behalf of housing developer Bovis Homes.

The footbridge had been promised by the developers when permission was granted for them to build hundreds of new homes on the northern side of Hayes Way, known as Charlon Hayes.

The bridge will sit over Hayes Way and will link the housing development to facilities on the other side of the road such as a brand new Lidl store which is currently being built.
